RESOURCES TO GET KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL
Immunization
All DC students must have an up-to-date immunization certification on file with their school. The best place for families to access immunizations is through their primary medical provider. DC Health and its partners are also offering free vaccination opportunities across the District.
Kids Ride Free
Check out the Kids Ride Free program, which ensures that enrolled District students who are DC residents can get to school and school-related activities for free. Kids Ride Free SmarTrip cards for the 2024-2025 School Year will be available for pickup by students from their School ID Administrator in their respective schools in September.DCPS Strong

My School DC Enrollment Requirements by School
Students matched with a public or public charter school through the My School DC lottery will need to follow the school’s enrollment procedures.
Enroll at DC Public Schools
All families will need to complete a DCPS enrollment packet, prove DC residency and submit all documents to their school before the first day of school on August 28, 2023. Learn more about how to enroll in DCPS in the link below.
Find Your In-Boundary School
All DC residents eligible for grades K-12 have a guaranteed right to enroll in their in-boundary school. Use the link below to find your in-boundary assignment for school year 2023-24.
My School DC Post-Lottery Application
My School DC is the District’s common school application and lottery for DCPS and public charter schools. If a family missed the lottery application deadline or would like to apply to additional schools, they can submit a post-lottery application.
Resident Requirements
To be enrolled in any public school in DC, a parent, guardian, custodian, or other primary caregiver must verify proof of DC resident for each student assigned to or wishing to attend a traditional public or public charter school in the District.
